Jo Anna's Testimony
As a child growing up, my family was always in church. Some of my earliest memories are of being in God' house. However, at the age of eleven, my pastor preached on the wages of sin. He presented the Gospel of Jesus Christ simply and clearly. I realized that even though I was young and had never gotten into trouble that I was a lost and separated from God by my very nature of being sinful. I prayed asking Jesus to forgive me and cover me with His blood. I asked Him on that day to be the Lord of my life and the Savior of my soul.
In June of 2014, the opportunity to go to Nicaragua on a mission trip was presented. I thought to myself "what a wonderful opportunity...for someone else". My plan was to help my brothers and sisters in Christ make preparations to go and to be in earnest prayer for them while they were gone. God had a different plan. I argued with God to the point of saying "God, you know there is someone else that can do this for you". His response was "I'm telling you to do it". I very anxiously agreed to go. The moment I stepped off the plane in Managua, Nicaragua I knew my life would never be the same. Even then, I didn't realized that God was going to mess me up! He placed a love and compassion for the people of Nicaragua in my heart that I have no words to explain. I just know that the plan He has had for me from before the foundation of the world involves being part of bringing the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the country of Nicaragua.
I could tell you many things about my journey and myself but the only thing that is of any significance about me is that I am 100%, sold out, head over heels in love with Jesus Christ!
At the age of 16, I was in church when the Holy Spirit started dealing with me. Even though I had made a profession of faith when I was 12 because of peer pressure, I knew that I wasn’t truly saved. During altar call that day, I gave my heart and life to Jesus. I asked Him to forgive me and be Lord of my life.
In 2014, God opened the door for me to go with my church on a mission trip to Nicaragua. During this trip, we were given the opportunity to do street evangelism. Even though I had been a Christian for many years, I had never shared the Gospel with anyone. God opened the door for my group to share our faith with a group of school children. I can’t even describe how it felt to share the good news of Jesus. During that trip, I was blessed to be able to share the Gospel with many people, ten of which accepted Jesus as their Savior. I knew at that moment what it meant to be an ambassador of Jesus Christ. I knew that I would spend the rest of my life, with God’s help, fulfilling the Acts 1:8 commission to go and tell.
